The Fisheye

I always maintained that I should never own a fisheye (or a tilt-shift lens for that matter) because I’d most likely abuse it. In an irresolute moment last week, I tossed that sentiment aside and bought the forbidden fruit. I blame the people closest to me–they shouldn’t have let this happen. They knew. One even went so far as to encourage me. So just as suspected, I have turned into a junkie, chasing down a fix at every free moment. Hydrangeas, neighbors, passing motorists… I have a wedding tomorrow. I hope I can get this out of my system between now and then.

It’s been a long time since Stephanie has graced the blog, but she’s still around. This is probably the only picture we have taken this summer. See, we have this cat-and-mouse game where when I want to take her picture she tells me no, that she’s not in the “mood.” But when I have a migraine or my camera batteries are dead, she’ll seek me out like Lindsay Lohan looking for a party at 2:00AM on a Tuesday.

Paige has noticed a spike in blog traffic lately. We’re not sure why, but we think it might have to do with the latest wedding we posted. Seems we had lots of visitors and comments on that one. Paige also wants you to know that even though we won’t be taking on any new photography work (at least not for the foreseeable future), we decided we are going to leave the blog up and active because a lot of our peeps have asked us to keep it going–even if that means that the pictures won’t be of lavish weddings, but rather our own boring photos.

Can anyone guess what Bobo is doing in the background? I’m giving away free thumb-drives to anyone with the right answer. Contest closes midnight next Wednesday, 8/25. Leave your answer as a comment.

The Goodbye Post

This is just a brief post to let blog readers and potential clients know that, as of August 1, 2010, I am no longer booking any new photography sessions.

I’ve had an amazing several years with wonderful clients, for whom I am extremely grateful. I know that I will miss capturing all the special moments and all the precious smiles that I have come to look forward to at each session. And as much as I have enjoyed the photography business, it has also meant that my weekends and evenings are usually spent working since I already have a full-time day job. Simply put, I need more time for my family and myself.

Thank you again for being such wonderful clients and blog readers. I truly appreciate you all. This blog will remain active through the fall, as I still have a few weddings over the next several weeks that will be posted on here.

Congratulations Brooke and Steve! One of the hottest days I’ve ever shot in, but it was fabulous. St Mary’s in downtown Rochester has excellent air conditioning and the weather in Canandaigua at Kershaw Park couldn’t have been more perfect–plenty of shade from the trees that line the waterfront and a gorgeous gazebo to boot, so who could ask for more? Many, many happy years to you both and your families.
